Oxytocin

Oxytocin is often referred to as the "love hormone" and "cuddle hormone" due to its role in enhancing sexual function and promoting social bonding, trust, and empathy.

Most uses of Oxytocin are considered "off-label", require a prescription and  a doctor's supervision.

Benefits

  • Sexual dysfunction: Studies show that intranasal oxytocin can increase the intensity of orgasms and sexual contentment.

  • Long-term use has also been shown to improve sexual function and

  • Improves symptoms of depression in women with sexual dysfunction.

  • Postpartum depression (PPD): Research indicates that oxytocin nasal spray can help mothers with PPD foster more positive interactions with their babies, boosting feelings of warmth, affection, and physical connection. However, it may be less effective in women with more severe depression and does not necessarily improve stress levels or caregiving sensitivity.

  • Social and emotional well-being: Oxytocin is known as the “love hormone” and "cuddle hormone" for its role in social bonding and feelings of connection. Research suggests the nasal spray may help improve mood, reduce social anxiety, and enhance trust in relationships.

  • Stress response: By balancing the stress hormone cortisol, oxytocin can reduce anxiety and promote a sense of well-being.
